Miss Craige's social studies classes have been researching the Trail of Tears using primary documents. After learning about specific events related to this greater historical drama, which unfolded as a result of Andrew Jackson's Indian Removal Act of 1838, N.O.M.S. students designed their own historical markers commemorating the Trail of Tears.

For this project students chose a focus from among the many people, events, locations, and dates associated with the larger Trail of Tears drama. Then they featured this moment from history on a self-styled historical marker designed to reflect their own perspective and synthesis of the facts, expressed in their own uniquely creative way.
